Editorial: Missing Money
I could tell you very close to the penny where our money is. Give or take a few dollars given the fact stocks and bonds vary, I could get pretty close.
I know the federal government is much bigger than any one person, but how is it possible to misplace $619 billion from over 300 different federal programs?
Human services failed to report $544 billion, which accounts for the majority of missing funds. No way Americans can ever hope for a balanced budget if the government can't keep track of what is in the U.S. checking account now.
I wonder how much of this missing data is public information? A report on the misplaced funds called this a weakness in the system. I would have say $619 billion is more than a little weakness.
Considering the national debt, as of early last week, was $16,787,451,118,147 (that is $16 trillion, by the way) $619 billion is....TO READ FULL EDITORIAL PURCHASE A COPY OF THE DCI TODAY!
