The biggest problem with the start of the government shutdown last week is the fact that those who caused the federal government shutdown, members of Congress and President Obama, are exempt from not being paid. The 27th Amendment to the Constitution bars them from being affected financially by the U.S. government shutdown in 17 years.
A couple of members of Congress said they planned to donate their salaries to charity as long as the shutdown went on. I am sure that a majority will accept paychecks while the 800,000 workers are at home waiting for one side or the other to give in on Obamacare.
