Raising money for Relay For life!

• By Randy Carlsen

Over the past several months, weeks and days Dodge County Relay For Life teams have been coming up with different ways to raise money for the 2010 Relay For Life of Dodge County. A group of Mantorville kids found a way to raise money and they weren't the least bit interested in keeping any of that money for themselves.

Last week there was a lemonade stand in Mantorville that did a booming business with all the proceeds benefitting the Dodge County American Cancer Society. Day care kids along with Brenna Barwald, Alex Gray and Tianna Hill sold lemonade, homemade strawberry lemonade, cookies, nachos and bars at the corner at 121 7th Street West Thursday and Friday. They were up to $550 as of late Friday afternoon, just before the start of the Relay of Life.

One the the best customers for the two days was the Just Like Home school age child care group from Kasson who had biked to Riverside Park in Mantorville for a picnic. They then made their way up the Mantorville hill to the Gray residence and patronized the stand. There were some 35 school age kids and chaperones at the stand.
