Travis and Ellen Pearson of Dodge Center are the parents of the first Dodge County baby of 2010, a promotion sponsored by Kasson-Mantorville businesses.
The first year winners were Mike and Nicole Marti of Kasson (their third child) and last year the winners were Gary and Rebecca Davis of Claremont (their seventh). For Travis and Ellen, Christine Ann Pearson is their first, born a month early. She weighed 6 lb., 7 oz., was 18-3/4" long and was born January 5, 2010 at 6:23 p.m. at Olmsted Medical Center.
Travis is a native of Wells, MN. and Ellen grew up in Dodge Center. The couple met on the internet and will have been married five years on October 1. Ellen said she has seven cousins who met their future husbands on the internet.
Ellen said she came home from work January 4 and it was only 50 degrees in the house. The furnace was out. She said her water broke that night and they started her on Pitocin drip at 7 a.m. the next morning, January 5 at Olmsted Medical Center. She said the labor went very well and at 6:23 p.m. Christine Ann was born. "I think she came early to win this contest," grinned Ellen.
Travis and Ellen said they have enjoyed the big change in their lives. Christine Ann has been all they could have ever hoped for and more.
