Susan K. Boyum, 61, died Monday, August 16, 2010 at Seasons Hospice in Rochester. She died after a year long struggle with cancer. It was not a battle as she was and still is an extremely peaceful soul.

Susan was born on December 21, 1948 to Kenneth and Delores (Kodet) Wittwer and raised in Bird Island, MN. She graduated from Mankato State College where she met and married her husband Dean in 1971. She taught for two years in Karlstad, MN and 35 years in Dodge Center (Triton). After retirement she continued to substitute teach at Triton and Rochester Off Campus. More than anything she was a teacher. She loved her students and the professional educators who were her colleagues. Susie loved sunshine, oceans and animals, especially her cats.

Susan is survived by her husband Dean of Rochester; her mother, Delores Wittwer of Bird Island; two brothers: Steven (Susan) Wittwer of Plymouth, MN and Jon (Tina) Wittwer, of Lake Lillian, MN; and one sister, Judy (Steve) Dirks of Olivia, MN.

Susan was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth, and her grandparents.

A memorial service was held August 23 at St. John's Catholic Church in Dodge Center with Fr. Will Thompson officiating. Czaplewski Family Funeral Home in Dodge Center was in charge of arrangements.
