Kasson-Mantorville student advances in Lions International Peace Poster Contest

Kallie Brownlow, a seventh grade student at Kasson-Mantorville Middle School won first place in the local competition of the Lions International Peace Poster Contest sponsored by the Kasson-Mantorville Lions Club. The Peace Poster Contest was created in 1988 to give young people the opportunity to creatively express their feelings for world peace and to share their visions with the world. Children from sixty-five countries participate annually. Kallie's poster will now advance to face additional competition among other participating Lions Clubs in Southeast Minnesota District 5M1. This district is made up of clubs in the counties of Goodhue, Wabasha, Dodge, Olmsted, Winona, Mower, Filmore and Houston. Also winning certificates and cash prizes were Bret Kremers (2nd Place) and Ally Gunderson (3rd Place).
These three students, along with their classmates, were also treated to an ice cream party hosted by Lions Bob Melin, Wayne Hendrickson and Larry Berghuis.
