K-M girls drop to 11-7 after pair of tough losses

K-M dropped to 11-7 overall and 2-5 in the conference after a couple of tough HVL losses last week. Cotter won the second meeting with the KoMets 55-39 and Friday night they fell to La Crescent 73-63. Both losses came on the road.

The girls have three home games this week. They had Stewartville Monday, Goodhue Friday and Sibley East Saturday night.

When K-M played Cotter at home the first time around K-M won 57-40 and knocked them out of the rankings in the polls. Coach Ryan Haraldson said they came out looking for revenge.

K-M did not have an answer for 6' center Nicole Beyer who was 11 of 13 from the floor and scored 24 points. K-M only trailed at the half by three, 21-18.

Cotter made a big run to start the second half and the KoMets could not answer. They were outscored in the second half 34-21.

K-M was a cool 16 of 50 from the field and Cotter shot just over 50%. The first time around the KoMets shot over 40% from the field. K-M was 2 of 9 on three's with Tori Schouweiler making both.

Freshman Abby Manitz led the team with 10 points, Schouweiler had 8 and Kameryn Kleber 6. Schouweiler also led the team with 3 assists and Bre Barrett and Abbey Lacey had 2 each.

Kaia Buck had a team high 7 rebounds. Cotter held a 27-26 rebounding edge and the first time around K-M dominated in that area, 41-16.

K-M 63 - La Crescent 73

La Crescent made more free throws than the KoMets attempted and that was the difference in the game. The Lancers made 26 of 52 at the line and K-M was 14 of 23 (61%).

Once again this game was close at the half with the KoMets trailing by only two, 28-26.

K-M was 23 of 64 from the field (36%) and La Crescent 22 of 51 (43%). Both teams were 3 of 14 from three point range for 21%.

K-M had a balanced scoring attack with Barrett scoring 12, Kleber 10, Kaeley Erichsen 9, Holly Peterson and Kaia Buck 8 each and Autumn Ehlke 7 and Schouweiler 7 each. Ehlke had 4 assists and Peterson, Barrett and Lacey 3 each.

K-M did have a 44-31 rebounding advantage, 13-8 at the offensive end. Kaeley Erickson had a team high 9 rebounds and Barrett and Buck 7 each.
