Seventh grader Dana Rasmussen has picked up where her older sister Tara left off after graduating last spring. The elder Rasmussen is the career leader in points for the Wildcats. After younger sister Dana scored three times in a 5-1 win over John Marshall/Lourdes Saturday at the Rec Center in Rochester, there is talk of a new record holder, but the record would still stay in the family!
Coach Jeremy Gunderson said the girls took advantage of their opportunities around the net Saturday. They were also able to finish on those chances.
Coupled with the 4-2 win over Waseca Tuesday the girls are now 14-10 going into the final week of the regular season. The final regular season game is Saturday at home against New Ulm. Game time is 7 p.m. Playoff section action is set to begin Wednesday, February 10.
Dodge County broke a 1-1 tie late in the second period to take a 2-1 lead and then took the game over with three scores in the third.
Also scoring for the Wildcats were Darby Dodds and Madison Tibben. Kourtney Kleber picked up a pair of assists.
Dodge County had a distinct 29-12 shots on goal advantage. Winning goalie Anna Hunter stopped 11 shots.
Wildcats 4 - Waseca 2
Dodge County was three for six on power play goals and took a 3-0 lead into the third period. They scored once in the first, two in the second and one in the third.
Dodge County had 9, 21 and 13 shots for a total of 43, as compared to only 16 for Waseca. Winning goalie Anna Hunter stopped 14 shots.
Four different Wildcats scored for Dodge County. They were Kourtney Kleber, Emily Mundy, Darby Dodds and Courtney Quam. Emily Gunderson had two assists and Kleber, Rasmussen, and Tibben one each.
