ORGANIZATIONS/VOLUNTEER INVOLVEMENT: Faith in Action, Kasson Chamber of Commerce, NAEA, (National Association of Enrolled Agents) and founding member of K-M Post Prom Party Committee.
LENGTH OF TIME IN BUSINESS: 39 years. Not all have been as a CPA. In 1974 I started working for Bob Shadow (tax & accounting) and gradually started doing taxes. I decided if I was going to do taxes I needed to get serious and go back to school.
WHAT YOU ENJOY THE MOST ABOUT YOUR WORK: Change-just about the time you think you know what you need to know three or four changes will take place. You have to love change to be in this business.
A TYPICAL DAY CONSISTS OF: It depends on the 'season'. During tax season we are here from morning to morning. We are open year round and having a partner means being able to take time off after tax season. Having a partner (Danette Baker) and a good staff (Renata, Karla and Brian) is the best. Last year I was able to spend a month in Australia and New Zealand.
YOUR MOST DESPISED CHORE: Doing the dishes-the pots and pans that can't go in the dishwasher. I like to clean, do laundry and cook, but those last pots and pans are not for me.
WHAT MOTIVATES YOU? Somebody telling me 'no' or that I cannot do something.
GREATEST ACCOMPLISHMENT: Is still to come.
WHO DO YOU ADMIRE? Parents who raise kind, considerate, responsible kids who can stand on their own two feet.
HOBBIES: Flower gardening, cooking, collecting dishes
FAVORITE COLOR: I don't really have a favorite color. I wear green because I have green eyes, but I also like to wear blue. There are certain colors I can't wear, but I really don't have a favorite.
FAVORITE FOOD: Pancakes
BEST VACATION: Two weeks in Italy
AS A CHILD WHAT DID YOU WANT TO GROW UP TO BE? A teacher. I wanted to teach high school chemistry.
HOW WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE REMEMBERED? As an honest person and a person who gave back to people.
