Captured Moments Photography
Experienced photographer realizes
the importance of life's events
Jill Moosbrugger, owner of Captured Moments Photography, is looking to fill a niche. "I am not in this to make a ton of money", she smiles. "I do it because it is my passion. I enjoy it. I love to do weddings. I love to capture that special look a small child often has, I want to record those important moments".
It was during a photography class in high school that Jill discovered her passion. "I knew that photography was what I wanted to do", Jill stated. She took classes at Dakota County Technical School and worked at a photo lab and portrait studio-now practically a thing of the past. "I spent 13 years there and learned a lot", she said. "I was also taking photos on my own and working for another photographer when needed", she continued. "Back in the day I would shoot 40 weddings a year. That was before I was married and had children", she said by way of clarification. That was also back in the day of film photography which in some ways took less time. "There was less control over the quality of shots, but there wasn't all the time involved now in editing digital images", she says with a shrug. "I am glad I had that experience. It really helped me learn a lot about the rules of photography, and develop and refine my own style."
Nine and a half years ago Jill moved from the Twin Cities to Kasson and life changed. Getting married and having her two sons has only served to reinforce her desire to "capture those moments". "Being a photographer I was always aware of the importance of getting those once in a lifetime shots", Jill relates."After twenty years of photography I now really understand and want to photograph those important moments in life whether it be that special wedding pose or the fleeting smile of an infant."
If a customer is looking for package deals, special effects lighting and fancy studio backdrops, Jill readily admits that is not her style. "I don't offer all that. I shoot and edit the digital images, but do not do a lot of the extreme special effects. My twenty years of experience and knowledge of posing, lighting and editing helps ensure that the images look professional, while keeping things natural and real looking. I provide a CD of the edited images with a full release so that my clients are able to do exactly what they want with any of their images. I like to work with people to achieve what they want without complicating the process; I try to be flexible", she shares.
This time of the year Jill's calendar fills with senior photo shoots and weddings. She also photographs families, children, newborns and pets. Currently the majority of her work is done outdoors as she has found that is what people prefer. A studio may be in the future, but for now she generally shoots on location and outdoors.
Jill is stepping outside of her normal realm of photography this summer. She will be taking photos at the Festival in the Park Run-Walk held on Saturday, August 10th at Veterans Memorial Park in Kasson. "It is something different for me-I normally do not do sports events, but I am looking forward to it", she said.
