In recent years my mood for the evening has depended on the status of the Minnesota Twins game. One of my family members can come home on a given evening the Twins are playing and pretty much tell how they are doing by my facial expression.

This concern has been ongoing for a long time. If Activities Director Clark Jones can combine all K-M booster clubs into one he should be up for some sort of a Nobel Prize.

Infants require about 16 hours of sleep a day, teens nine hours and adults seven to eight hours. The amount of sleep required varies with the individual.

When people talk about a tea party I think of the Boston Tea Party. There is a new movement though that refers to the tea party and it does have similarities to the historic one in Boston.

The 2009-10 Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment-Series II test data was released by the Minnesota Department of Education. Results showed 80% of Byron students were proficient in math and 87% in reading.

It was 23 years ago when President Jimmy Carter's brother Billy died from pancreatic cancer at the age of 51. When it comes to presidential family members the late Billy Carter has to rank right up there with the best.

My son, Caleb Kern, was diagnosed with epilepsy when he was nine months old in March of 1991. Since then he has had a variety of seizures and multiple seizure medications have been tried to control them.

The K-M School District set a precedent when they went above and beyond the sanctions required by the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) for violations that include drug, alcohol and tobacco use for students grades 7-12. The penalty was double that recommended by the MSHSL for a first violation and even tougher for a second and third violation.
