Implicated I was reading an article about Sea World being fined $75,000 for safety violations regarding the death of Dawn Brancheau after she was grabbed by killer whale Tillikum from a swimming deck and tossed under water like a play toy.

School There is a $569 million K-12 school in Los Angeles where 3,000 teachers have been laid off during the last two years and the district faces a $640 million deficit. The cost of the school figures out to be $137,000 per student for the 4,200 students.

Letter Policy With the political season at our doorstep I thought it might be a good idea to review what the DCI accepts in the form of Letters to the Editor. Content of letters can become sensitive issues when accusations are made or a statement reads, "from what I have heard".

The bike/walking path from the south end of the fairgrounds to the K-M schools will once again be busy starting, Tuesday, September 7, the first day of school. This group of young people were coming from Veterans Memorial Park and headed back to Project Kids in the K-M Community Education Building. Motorists are reminded to be on the lookout for students biking and walking to and from school.
