School There is a $569 million K-12 school in Los Angeles where 3,000 teachers have been laid off during the last two years and the district faces a $640 million deficit. The cost of the school figures out to be $137,000 per student for the 4,200 students. Letter Policy With the political season at our doorstep I thought it might be a good idea to review what the DCI accepts in the form of Letters to the Editor. Content of letters can become sensitive issues when accusations are made or a statement reads, "from what I have heard". |

Preliminary budget to be set, library bldg. committee to be formed As a prelude to adopting a preliminary budget at the September 8 meeting Mayor Tim Tjosaas discussed briefly what the increase might be for 2011. Levy discussion will also be included with looking at the preliminary budget. He said the team has the potential to rank right up there with the best he has coached here and this will be his 15th season. KoMet football team will have speed in skilled positions Last year the K-M football team had speed and size that resulted in a 12-1 season and the only loss of the year was to state champion New London-Spicer at the Metrodome. |

The bike/walking path from the south end of the fairgrounds to the K-M schools will once again be busy starting, Tuesday, September 7, the first day of school. This group of young people were coming from Veterans Memorial Park and headed back to Project Kids in the K-M Community Education Building. Motorists are reminded to be on the lookout for students biking and walking to and from school.
