The Kasson-Mantorville Powerlifting Team traveled to Galesville, WI to compete. The meet had 180 lifters competing. Teams competing were from Spring Grove, Whitehall, Holmen, G-E-T, Necedah, LaCrosse, West Salem, Sparta, Indpendance, and Altoona.

Senior center Josh Murphy had a career high 22 points in a 61-33 win over La Crescent Friday night. Last week the KoMets also lost a close one at Byron 39-36 and won at Red Wing 46-36. They are now 7-4 overall.

Sophomore Darby Dodds scored two of the first three Dodge County goals in an 11-2 win over Woodbury. She finished the night with four goals and two assists in the blowout win. The Wildcats also won at home over Austin 8-2 to improve to 12-5 for the season.

Playing a home game might not be a big deal, but it sure was Saturday afternoon for the Dodge County Wildcat boys. They played their first 12 games of the season on the road.

Last Monday K-M senior Kaia Buck signed a letter of intent to play volleyball at Jamestown State in Jamestown, North Dakota for coach Jon Hegerle. If the last name sounds familiar Jon is the son of veteran K-M volleyball coach Larry Hegerle.

K-M has not had gymnastics for several years. For the 2011-12 season they were turned down by Pine Island for pairing. However, Stewartville welcomed them with open arms and coach Steve Wesenberg is glad they did.

The Dodge County Wildcat boys hockey team had a goal of playing .500 hockey this season. Last week they were shut out at home 5-0 and lost to Chanhassen 14-0 on the road for their 15 loss of the season against only two wins.

After losing their first game in 16 outings at Stewartville a week ago, the KoMet girls were right back on track with a pair of HVL wins last week. They upended La Crescent 84-67 and came from behind to stop stubborn Winona Cotter 67-61.

K-M sophomore Chad Aaker made the two biggest free throws of his young varsity career Friday night at Lourdes. He nailed a pair of free throws with two seconds to play to lift the KoMets from one point down to a 57-56 win.
