This is what it looks like when a majority of the 160 athletes out for track 7-12 take a lap. With the K-M softball and baseball teams sharing the inside part of the track, using the artificial turf, practices get to be very busy at KMTelecom Field.

Byron stood out as the top dog at the 14 team Stewartville Invitational last week, but the KoMets and Stewartville were right in there fighting for the second and third spot. Byron won the meet with a score of 309, Stewartville scored 324 and K-M was at 326.

The K-M boys golf team picked up a pair of wins and sophomore Brie Westrom realized a golfer’s dream by knocking in a hole-in-one at The Oaks Golf Club in Hayfield. The Oaks is serving as the home course for the KoMet team this season.

A doubleheader sweep at Winona Cotter Saturday has the K-M baseball team off to a 5-1 start this season. K-M won game one in nine innings 5-4 and took the second one 13-7.

K-M hosted the HVL track meet Saturday and the girls placed second to Byron and the boys were fourth out of 13 conference teams.

The K-M boys golf team managed to get two meets in last week before the snowstorm brought spring sports to a complete halt. The KoMets shot a 342 and placed third out of 12 teams at the Triton Invitational Golf Tournament last Tuesday.

The K-M girls softball team appears to be peaking at the right time. They have win 13 consecutive games, including a 1-0 win over number one ranked Zumbrota-Mazeppa, and last week outscored five opponents 57-2.

With a rain and snow filled spring season the KoMet baseball team has still managed to get 19 games in. Last week they won three out of four and were to play Cannon Falls at home Monday for the HVL title-weather permitting because more rain was in the forecast.

After stumbling with a couple of losses at the tough Mankato East Tournament, the K-M girls softball team has bounced back with three wins. They won at Stewartville 3-1, were able to get past Mayo 11-4 and took care of business against Byron 14-1.
